I moved to Pittsburgh about two months ago and was instantly taken with the city. In an attempt to familiarize myself with my new surroundings, I’ve been biking around the city, trying to get a sense, albeit a tiny, incomplete and ever-changing one, of what Pittsburgh is.

But before I can understand what this city is all about, I figured I should at least become acquainted with the pieces that make up the puzzle. The city of Pittsburgh has 90 distinct neighborhoods. Let’s have a look.

I love that you are a NEW resident! I am from Ohio…waited to live in this city for YEARS and when I got here people were amazed that I wanted to live here. I love Pittsburgh so much and I’m glad that you have started this blog…only, I am going to be sad when you are finished with the 90 districts!

Thanks for checking in Emily! With so much packed into this city and so much to see in each neighborhood, I’ve got no plans on stopping after I hit all 90. As of right now, the posts are my initial impressions, so there’s plenty of room to expand.

Hey Max, we were wondering if we could use a few of your awesome pictures of Mt. Oliver City for our annual ‘State of the Neighborhoods’ data report for the District 3 Office Council website!

Max, I am moving to Pitts in a few weeks to begin a very exciting chapter of my career. The only thing that has me the least bit uneasy is not knowing anything about “the city – my new home”. Your Blog is a great help in educating myself and making good decisions in the near future. Thank you –

What a great site – I live here and I’ve learned all sorts of goodies. Love the neighborhoods maps too.

  6. Hi Max, I’m the neighborhoods reporter for the Post-Gazette and just found this site. Are you still doing it? I like the idea and hoped to talk to you about it. Diana Nelson Jones
